Terms of Use

The house rules for using this Site. Short version: enjoy the reading, verify before you travel, respect the mountains and our copyright.

Last updated: 20 April 2026.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of theannapurna.com (the "Site"), operated by Annapurna Trails Media LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

The Site is informational

The Annapurna publishes editorial content about mountain travel and trekking. It is provided for general information and enjoyment only, and it is not professional advice of any kind — not medical, not legal, not mountaineering instruction and not a guiding service. Trails change, permits are reformed, weather is indifferent to publication dates. Always verify current conditions, regulations and transport with official and local sources before relying on anything you read here.

Mountain travel is inherently risky

Trekking and travel at altitude involve real hazards, including altitude illness, severe weather, remoteness from medical care and terrain risks. Our articles describe these hazards as we experienced them, but reading about a route is not preparation for walking it. You are solely responsible for your own fitness, preparation, equipment, insurance and judgment, and for deciding whether any activity described on this Site is appropriate for you. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any injury, loss or damage arising from your travel decisions.

No guarantee of accuracy or results

Opinions in our guides are the honest views of our writers at the time of writing. We work hard on accuracy, but we make no warranty that any information is current, complete or error-free, nor that the Site will be uninterrupted or free of harmful components.

Third-party links

The Site contains links to third-party websites (for example, park authorities, transport operators and lodging pages). We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, products, pricing or practices. Any transaction you make with a third party is solely between you and them. For clarity: none of the links in our editorial content are affiliate links, and we receive no commission from anything you book or buy.

Intellectual property

All content on the Site — text, photographs, illustrations, logos, the name The Annapurna and the overall design — is owned by or licensed to Annapurna Trails Media LLC and protected by copyright and other laws. You may read and share links to our work and quote brief excerpts with clear attribution and a link back. You may not republish, copy, scrape, redistribute or create derivative works from substantial portions of our content without our prior written permission.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Site. In particular, you will not: attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems; interfere with the Site's operation; use automated tools to scrape or harvest content or email addresses; upload malicious code; or use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

Submissions

If you send us a trail update, correction or other material (for example, through our contact form), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use it for editorial purposes, with attribution where practical. Please do not send us confidential information; we cannot guarantee it will be treated as such.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and all content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Annapurna Trails Media LLC and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Site or any third-party service accessed through it.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Annapurna Trails Media LLC from any claims, losses or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Buncombe County, North Carolina will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Site.

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the "last updated" date will reflect the most recent version. Your continued use of the Site after changes means you accept them.
